Senior Management Development Programme

Creativedge has worked with Travis Perkins since 2002

The Travis Perkins Group is a FTSE100 company and one of the UK’s leading builders’ merchants.

TP identified the need to introduce its first ever structured group-wide leadership development programme to accelerate the development of experienced branch and head office managers and resource future internal regional director and senior level appointments. The acquisitions of other business (e.g. Wickes), necessitated the need to stimulate cross band awareness, communication and career progression within senior management.

Creativedge designed and launched the Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP). This bespoke modular programme ran over a 10 month period and consisted of an introductory day, followed by 5 x 2 day residential modules and a final MOT review day also attended by TP executive directors. SMDP has since been revised, but has continued to retain its initial focus to transform good managers into great leaders. It is still the only programme in the business to achieve group wide brand representation and support, involving both delegates and senior directors.

SMDP has a phenomenally high reputation within Travis Perkins – such so that demand for the programme exceeds supply. This is largely due to the excellent content and delivery by Creativedge. Many participants of this programme have since been promoted to senior positions within the Travis Perkins Group.

Management Development Manager

From 275 managers who have completed the SMDP, Travis Perkins have appointed 1 Managing Director and 26 Regional Directors.

A further 23 promotions have been made to other regional and group roles, as well as many progressions to larger grade branch, regional and departmental roles.
